Camp: Familiarisation Day – Ironman 70.3 Ireland

Athlete: Dave S

Camp Location: Galway
Date: 7/8/11

Camp Location: Galway

Camp Dates: 7/8/2011

Overall Rating: The camp was excellent – 5

Location Rating: 5

Coaching Rating: 5 – there was a good mixture of both individual attention and an awareness of the group as a whole

Cycling Rating: 5 – we had a great group ride which included a short stop mid-way for pointers and bike adjustments

Running Rating: 5 – we completed most of the run course and ‘sighted’ the parts we didn’t run. There was also time dedicated to individual running styles and run technique

Swimming Rating: 5 – this was the most helpful part of the day for me, both in terms of the pool swim session and later in the open water. It was confidence-building to practice skills like drafting and sighting, which are so vital to open-water swimming. There was good time also dedicated to swim technique and I know I will benefit from Peter’s helpful pointers. Again, Peter didn’t ‘overload’ us with pointers but gave just enough to work with.

Improvements: No

Summing up:It was a really helpful and enjoyable day – Peter strikes an excellent balance between fun and instruction. Unbelievable value for money!

Further Comments: Keep doing what you’re doing! Thanks alot!

Camp: Familiarisation Day – Ironman 70.3 Ireland

Athlete: Eimear

Overall Rating: 5

I’m very glad I signed up to the camp and I really enjoyed the day. It was money well spent. The tips and advise given by Peter was great, and because of that I’m a lot more relaxed about the upcoming half iron man event.

Location Rating: 5

The hotel facilities were really great and the whole day was very well organised.

Coaching Rating: 5

Well worth the money spent.I got great tips on all three sports, and being a relative newcomer to triathlon meant that this was invaluable to me.

Cycling Rating: 5

Getting to know what my strong and weak points are on the bike was great, and more importantly advise on how to improve.

Running Rating: 4

Running is my weakest and least favourite discipline so I never really enjoy it. However, I was really happy with Peter’s tips on where I was going wrong and how to improve.

Swimming Rating: 5

I loved it. Both the technical session in the pool and the sea swim were great, with lots of advise. I particularly enjoyed the drafting drills and I feel I will be more comfortable in groups from now on.

Improvements: No, it was great

Summing up:Tough, informative, fun and well worth the effort

Further Comments: Thank you Peter for being so encouraging!

Camp: Ironman 70.3 Ireland

Athlete: Gillian

Camp Location: Dublin
Camp Dates: 21-22 May

Overall Rating: 5 excellent

Peter is very motivating and very adept at noticing the things each person needed to work on. At the same time, he managed to keep everyone involved and busy even when there were a number of people with different ability levels.

Peter is really good in my opinion and it was like attending the university of triathlons for a weekend long intensive course! I learned loads about triathlons in general and about my own strengths and weaknesss (mostly weaknesses!)

Camp: Ironman 70.3 Ireland

Athlete: John C.

Camp Location: Galway

Camp Dates: July

Overall Rating: Camp was excellent! Peter’s excellent motivational skills and interpersonal skills made it for me a really rewarding and valuable training camp. As an ” older age grouper” he displayed no alowances for age which is just what I wanted. Brillant tips were given in a very informal manner. A great credit to the atmosphere is the fact that the Galway Aquathon many of us met and supported each other. A team spirit! Well done!

Camp: Custom Camp for Clubs – Schull Triathlon Club

Athlete: Martin

Camp Location: Schull

Location Rating: I would rate it at 5.

Coaching Rating: I would rate the coaching at 5 the coach has great way of explaining and getting people motivated great sense of humour and at the same time getting the job done to perfection in great style .

Swimming Rating: The swimming component of the camp was out of this world for me .I am now swimming in a fast manner and doing all the new things that I was taught .Putting everything into practice over a long swim and short sprints getting my cadence up (excellent 5 )

Other Coach: Peter was the man we did not have any additional coaches none required with him around

Improvements: None comes to mind

Summing up:Mind blowing for me something I wanted to get and got

Further Comments: Thanks Peter for being a great guy

VERY IMPRESSED. I WAS SICK OF PEOPLE TELLING ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY STROKE, THERE HAD TO BE! WITHIN MINUTES PETER WAS ABLE TO TELL ME WHAT WAS WRONG AND MORE IMPORTANTLY CONVINCE ME THAT IT COULD BE FIXED, EASILY!

REALLY GLAD I WENT AND VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE COACH. I THOUGHT PETER WAS SWITCHED ON ALL THE TIME. LEARNED A LOT AND GOT SOME EXTRA INSPIRATION FOR THE COMING SEASON.

I struggled with cramp on kilometer 4-5 on the run but got going again then! Was delighted with the improvement considering 2009 was a perfect day and saturday was tough conditions!   So thanks for the help with the swimming running and bike fit!!! A big difference in 2 years (albeit from a low starting point!!) :0)
